Getting to the Ryder Cup 2027 at Adare Manor — Everything You Need to Know About Transport
With approximately 250,000 spectators expected to attend the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor across tournament week — September 13 to 19, 2027 — getting to and from the venue is one of the most important logistical questions for anyone planning a trip. The official transport plan is complex, coach operators in the region are already reporting strong demand, and there is no on-site parking at Adare Manor.
Here is everything you need to know about getting to the Ryder Cup 2027, based on the current official transport plans from the National Transport Authority and Ryder Cup organisers.
The Key Facts Upfront
• There is NO on-site parking at Adare Manor — all visitors must use public transport or Park and Ride
• A temporary train station is being built at Adare Manor at a cost of €3 million
• There will be NO direct train service between Limerick Colbert station and Adare
• The shuttle train will operate between Limerick Junction (Tipperary) and the temporary Adare station
• Shuttle buses will operate from Limerick Colbert station to Adare Manor
• Park and Ride facilities with approximately 25,000 spaces are being developed across multiple locations
• Coach operators in the region are already reporting strong demand — early planning is essential
• The Adare bypass is due to be completed in June 2027, which will help with traffic flow
Option 1 — The Shuttle Train (Train and Ride)
This is the most direct public transport option for visitors travelling from Dublin, Cork, Kerry, and Tralee.
A dedicated shuttle train service will operate between Limerick Junction station in Co. Tipperary and a brand new temporary station being constructed directly beside Adare Manor. Construction of the station began in May 2026 and is expected to take approximately six months. Once complete, it will be a short walk from the station platform directly to the gates of the event.
How the train journey works depending on where you are travelling from:
From Dublin Heuston: Take a train to Limerick Junction, then transfer to the shuttle train to Adare Manor station.
From Cork Kent: Take a train to Limerick Junction, then transfer to the shuttle train to Adare Manor station.
From Kerry (Killarney / Tralee): Take a train to Limerick Junction, then transfer to the shuttle train to Adare Manor station.
From Galway: Travel to Limerick Colbert station, then take the shuttle bus service to the Ryder Cup Bus Terminal at Adare Manor.
From Waterford: Travel to Limerick Junction, then transfer to the shuttle train to Adare Manor station.
Important: Limerick Colbert station in Limerick city will NOT have a direct train service to Adare. The railway line configuration does not allow for a direct service. Visitors in Limerick city travelling by rail will need to either travel to Limerick Junction first, or use the shuttle bus service from Colbert.
Option 2 — Shuttle Buses
Shuttle bus services will operate from two locations:
From Limerick Colbert Station: Shuttle buses will be available at all relevant times to transport spectators directly to the Ryder Cup Bus Terminal at Adare Manor. This is the recommended option for visitors arriving in Limerick city by train from Galway and other routes that do not connect through Limerick Junction.
From Limerick Junction: In addition to the shuttle train, bus services will also operate from Limerick Junction for spectators who prefer bus travel.
The shuttle bus journey from Limerick Colbert to Adare Manor is approximately 45 minutes. Services will operate throughout the event day at all relevant times.
Note: Coach operators across Munster are already reporting strong demand for private coach hire during Ryder Cup week. If you are considering private coach hire for a group — particularly from Kerry, Clare, or Tipperary — early booking is strongly advised. Reports from operators in the Killarney area indicate that capacity is already filling up more than a year before the event.
Option 3 — Park and Ride
For visitors who prefer to drive, Park and Ride is the only option — there is no on-site parking at Adare Manor. Limerick City and County Council is developing an extensive Park and Ride network with approximately 25,000 spaces across multiple locations.
Confirmed and proposed Park and Ride locations include:
• Patrickswell / Collopy's Cross, Attyflin — up to 3,900 spaces on the N21 close to Adare. Planning application submitted by Limerick City and County Council.
• Croagh West — proposed site
• Croagh North — proposed site
• Croagh South — proposed site
• Patrickswell Field and Racecourse — proposed site
• Macket site — proposed site
Shuttle buses will operate from all Park and Ride locations to Adare Manor, with a journey time of 10 to 30 minutes depending on location. The Park and Ride service will be subject to a charge and is expected to be available for pre-booking. Full details of charges and booking procedures have not yet been confirmed.
The Adare bypass, due for completion in June 2027, will significantly improve traffic flow on the N21 approach to Adare and should reduce journey times from Park and Ride locations.
Option 4 — Flying In
Adare Manor is accessible from four main airports, each offering different advantages depending on where visitors are travelling from:
Shannon Airport: The closest airport to Adare Manor — approximately 40 minutes by road. Ideal for visitors flying from the United States, UK, and Europe. Direct transatlantic services operate year-round. Visitors flying into Shannon and staying in Co. Clare are extremely well positioned for the event.
Kerry Airport: Serves flights from Dublin and some UK destinations. A drive of approximately 90 minutes to Adare Manor. Visitors flying into Kerry who are staying in the Kerry area can attend the event via coach or by driving to a Park and Ride location.
Cork Airport: Serves a wide range of European and UK destinations. Approximately 90 minutes from Adare Manor by road. Train connection to Limerick Junction available.
Dublin Airport: Ireland's main international hub with the widest range of connections. Approximately 2.5 hours from Adare Manor by road. Train connection from Dublin Heuston to Limerick Junction available.
The Transport Challenge — Why Staying Close to the Venue Makes Sense
The transport plan for the Ryder Cup 2027 is extensive and well-organised — but it is also complex. With 60,000 spectators expected per day, no on-site parking, shuttle trains operating via Limerick Junction rather than Limerick city, and Park and Ride facilities still being confirmed, getting to Adare Manor each day requires planning.
For visitors staying in a private home close to Adare Manor, the transport challenge largely disappears. A property within 20 or 30 minutes of the venue means a short drive to a Park and Ride location, or potentially a straightforward journey on the shuttle train if staying near Limerick Junction.
This is one of the key reasons private home rental near Adare Manor is so attractive for Ryder Cup visitors — it simplifies the daily logistics significantly and removes the uncertainty of relying on public transport capacity during one of the busiest weeks in Irish sporting history.
What This Means If You Own a Home Near Adare Manor
If you own a property within comfortable distance of Adare Manor — particularly within 30 to 45 minutes — the transport situation makes your home significantly more valuable to Ryder Cup visitors. A home that eliminates the transport challenge is a home that commands a premium.
Visitors who have done their research will understand that getting to Adare Manor each day from further afield involves planning, queuing, and uncertainty. A private home close to the venue — or close to a Park and Ride or Limerick Junction — removes that stress entirely.
If you are considering listing your home for the 2027 golf event, the time to do so is now. Coach operators are already fully booked in some areas. Demand is building faster than many people anticipated. The visitors who are planning carefully will be looking for private home rentals well in advance.
